The expected blockbuster showing of Twilight: New Moon (premiering later this month) is enough proof that vampires and vampire dramas are the current rage, whether it be in movies or television. And Vampire Diaries is no exception. In the episode entitled Turning Point this week, here are what to expect: After reading the journal left by one of the Gilbert ancestors, Jeremy is inspired to return to his hobby of sketching fantasy creatures, a talent he had abandoned when his parents died. Much to the
surprise of their friends, Matt and Caroline continue to hang out together. When Sheriff Forbes tells Damon there has been another attack, he offers to track down the killer and learns a startling piece of information about the town’s founding families. Alaric steps in to help during an awkward scene with Jeremy, Tyler and Mayor Lockwood. Stefan and Elena come to a new understanding, but everything changes when Elena accidentally makes a devastating discovery.

The action and drama gets more exciting with every week in this new series. Vampire Diaries comes out with the third episode entitled Family Ties wherein it will offer a bite into the Salvatore family’s past. Here’s more: “Elena asks Stefan to be her escort when she is invited to the town’s annual Founder’s Party and is left with unanswered questions upon learning about Salvatore family’s past.”

At the party, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) tells Elena a story about the Salvatore family’s past, leaving Elena with questions that Stefan refuses to answer. Finally, Stefan takes action to get Damon out of his life for good. Steven R. McQueen, Sara Canning, Katerina Graham, Candice Accola and Zach Roerig also star. Guy Ferland directed the episode written by Andrew Kreisberg & Brian Young.

Damon tells his brother, Stefan, that Mystic Falls needs a wake up call and sets his sights on the next victim, Caroline. That’s what’s in store for us in the second installment of this new vampire drama series that is creating a lot of buzz from viewers. Coming in between the gap created by True Blood season 2’s finale and New Moon’s opening in November, Vampire Diaries has successfully filled the void. Here’s more of what we can expect in the episode entitled Night of the Comet: “As Mystic Falls prepares for a festival to celebrate the passing of a comet, Vicki is in the hospital recovering from the attack she can barely
remember. Stefan goes to the hospital and tries to use his abilities to make sure Vicki doesn’t remember what really happened, but his attempt is cut short when Vicki’s brother Matt arrives. Jeremy continues to struggle at school and with his feelings for Vicki. At a parent/teacher conference, Mr. Tanner makes Aunt Jenna feel that she is failing as a surrogate parent, especially when it comes to Jeremy. Elena decides to go to the Salvatore house to talk to Stefan, but finds his charming brother Damon instead. Damon reveals surprising information about Stefan’s past, and when Stefan arrives home, Elena is confused and embarrassed to realize that he isn’t happy to see her there. Meanwhile, Vicki’s memory of the attack begins to come back to her.”

The success of Twilight at the box office brought forth new tales tales of vampires. True Blood is one, another successful offering this time on television. And this week, another TV drama on the subject premieres on the CW network. Vampire Diaries starts its season for an audience that can’t seem to get enough about these folkloric beings. Here is a brief backgrounder on the series: “Elena Gilbert has always been a star student; beautiful, popular and involved with school and friends. As the fall semester begins, Elena becomes fascinated with mysterious new boy in school, Stefan Salvatore, and she has no way of knowing he is a
centuries-old vampire. While Stefan struggles to live peacefully among humans, his brother Damon is the embodiment of violence and brutality. Now these two vampire brothers – one good, one evil – are at war for Elena’s soul in the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia.”
