Bon Temps reaches a fever pitch as Maryann prepares for her ultimate bestial sacrifice, conscripting Sookie to be Maid of Honor at the bloody nuptials. Meanwhile, Sophie-Anne warns Eric to keep the lid on Bill’s inquisitiveness; Jason leads Andy into the heroic abyss; and Hoyt struggles with Maxine’s endless stream of insults. Deliberating on what may be his final move to save Sookie and the town, Sam places his trust, and his life, in a most unlikely ally.

UPDATE: Here is the recap of True Blood season 2 finale episode.

Sookie reluctantly put the gown and went to the ceremonial venue. Maryann told Sookie to repeat what she did but she was unable to. This would be the subject of discussion in the third season where Sookie discovered that she is not a mere human. Also, Maryann’s vibrating trick seemed to have no effect on Sookie at all. Still, Maryann proceeded with her marriage to the Bull-head god.

The plan to get Sookie as maid of honor turned out to be a bait to lure Sam into the ceremony. Maryann’s idea of marrying her god was to give a sacrifice, Sam. Bill managed to force Sam to follow him to the event and save Sookie. In the meantime, Jason and Andy joined the possessed black-eyes.

When Sookie wanted to help Sam from being sacrificed, Bill stopped her and advised her to use her gift instead. She was listening to Sam’s thought which told her to ruin the wedding with her power. She did and Maryann lunged at her immediately. But before Sookie got hurt, Sam stepped in, shape-shifted into the bull god form and ripped Maryann’s heart out, literally.

With the villain dead, the scene was moved to Eric playing Yahtzee with the Vampire Queen. Sophie-Ann warned Eric not to fall into Sookie like Bill did and Eric said it was not a problem. They had a deal then to have Eric “taking care” of Bill. Meanwhile, Maxine came back as herself and Hoyt dashed off to Jessica’s house with roses in his hand but the vampire was feasting on a trucker.

Switch to the next day, the town was somehow back to normal and the book’s writer Charlaine Harris was drinking at Merlotte’s. Jason and Andy were caught up in a messy situation when Eggs approached Andy to be locked up and Jason came from nowhere shooting Eggs’ head because he thought Eggs was about to kill Andy. The sheriff took the blame and told Jason to run away.

Sam, driven by his curiosity to find out about his nature, came to his adoptive parents to find out about his birth parents. The mother won’t tell him but the bed-ridden father scribbled a note to him along with the words “I’m Sorry”.

Back to Bill and Sookie, the waitress received a proposal from the vampire during a night out at French restaurant. Flabbergasted, Sookie could not give an answer and went to the bathroom to think. While she was weighing on the options and realizing that she wanted to say yes, Bill was kidnapped by a shadowy figure using a silver chain as weapon.

Sookie, Bill and Jason return to a Bon Temps turned upside down by Maryann. Lured to Merlotte’s by Arlene, Sam and Andy find cold comfort in their refuge from a group of bloodthirsty revelers. Bill discovers that traditional vampire techniques don’t work on Maryann; Hoyt and Jessica try to keep a lid on Maxine’s madness; and Sookie tries to push through the darkness consuming Tara. With all hell breaking loose, Jason takes the bull by the horns to rescue Sam, at least for the moment.

UPDATE: True Blood season 2 episode 10 New World in My View RECAP:

Sookie is seen walking down the hallway of Hotel Carmilla to Eric’s room. Eric, who has been crying, states “Godric is gone,” and Sookie comforts him and kisses him. Eric’s fangs come out and he moves to bite Sookie who then wakes up in a car with Jason and Bill. Upon entering Bon Temps, they see signs of chaos – the town has been ravaged and the people of Bon Temps are running around, blacked out. The driver hits two people, who seemingly come out of nowhere, who remained un-stunned after being hit. They are excited over the sacrifice and run off joyfully. Mary-Ann is seen outside of Sookie’s house with a blacked out Eggs, decorating a tree with meat and flowers. Sam is seen in Andy’s hotel room where they discuss the madness occurring in Bon Temps, and the fact that Mary-Ann is a Maenad. Arlene calls Sam from Merlotte’s claiming that there is a mob outside the bar, and frantically cries that she is afraid Mary-Ann will get her children. Sam agrees to come to Merlotte’s. At Bill’s house, Maxine Fortenberry is blacked out, being tended to by Jessica and Hoyt. She is ranting about the sacrifice, and Hoyt informs Sookie that “Mary-Ann’s house” is her house. Jason moves to take action and enter the “war he’s been training for.” Sookie asks him not to, but Bill convinces her. Hoyt also informs Sookie that Tara has been “partyin’ pretty hard over at Mary-Ann’s.” Sam arrives at Merlottes’s with Andy to find a blacked out Arlene. The people of Bon Temps come out of the background and corner Andy and Sam. The town’s people are unruly and Terry begins to shoot at random objects in the bar. Sam and Andy escape to the walk-in refrigerator and try to wait the mob out. Tara, bound to a chair, is at Lafayette’s house, blacked out and seemingly possessed. Lafayette and Lettie Mae discuss the different ways they may have contributed to Tara’s vulnerable disposition. Tara continues to wax poetic about the god coming for his sacrifice. Bill and Sookie arrive at Sookie’s house which has become dirty and overgrown with dirt and plants. Lafayette calls Sookie and urges her to leave. Mary-Ann appears and asks Sookie what she is “doing in my house?” Sookie says she is not scared of Mary-Ann, and Mary-Ann slams her against the wall, allowing Sookie to see that it was Mary-Ann who clawed her back. Bill grabs Mary-Ann and throws her down, bites her neck, and immediately begins to vomit. From the bite wounds oozes a black liquid. Mary-Ann approaches Sookie and asks, “What are you?” Sookie exclams, “None of your business,” and puts her hand in Mary-Ann’s face. A lightning-like spark is seen coming out of Sookie’s palm. Sookie grabs Bill and they run out, while Mary-Ann stands in the doorway pondering, “What are you?” Sam and Andy remained pinned in the walk-in freezer. Jason is seen collecting an arsenal of supplies for his trip to Merlotte’s. When he arrives, he sees the blacked out people of Bon Temps partying, doing drugs, and having sex, seemingly in dazes. He screams, “Hey! This party’s over,” but the people do not acknowledge him. He starts his chainsaw and cuts the stereo down the middle, stopping the music and gaining their attention. Jason punches Terry in the face and take’s Arlene by the neck, holding a nail gun to her head. The crowd cheers for him to “nail her,” but Terry calls a “time-out,” and Jason tells him that everyone must leave Merlotte’s. Terry orders the group to “retreat.” Jason returns Arlene to Terry. Bill continues to vomit out of the window while Sookie drives them to his house. She says she wants to turn to Eric for help. Bill adamantly protests, and asks her what she did to Mary-Ann. Sookie says she does not know. Jason finds Andy and Sam in the walk-in. They are discussing a “divergence” when a keg is thrown through the window. Terry arrives with the rest of the mob and corner Sam, Andy, and Jason. Sam tells Jason and Andy to “save yourselves” and volunteers himself to the mob. Tara is seen chanting a phrase repeatedly, “lo lo Bromios, lo lo Dendrites, Eleutherios, Enorches, Bacchus.” Lafayette slaps her in the face and tells her to “snap the fuck out of it,” but she continues. A young college student appears at Lafayette’s door wanting V. Lafayette tells her is not selling it and the girl states she is not leaving until she gets it. Bill hears this and runs from the car to remove the girl. Lafayette tells him that Eric has him selling V again. Sookie approaches a blacked out, vicious, belligerent Tara, and tries to read her mind. Sookie states that “she is gone.” Sookie tries again, seeing only brief flashes of Mary-Ann. Bill says he will glamor her. Outside of Merlotte’s, the mob begins to tie Sam to the top of a car when flares begin to fly through the sky. Jason, topless, with a gas mask and gloves appears on the tailgate of a truck, stating, “I am here.” He thanks the mob for their good work with the sacrifice. Terry calls “bullshit” because “god has horns,” and Andy holds up a branch over Jason’s head. Sam tells Jason to “s
mite him,” and then shape-shifts into a fly, disappearing and appearing dead to the crowd. Jason tells the mob to leave because the job is done. Jason and Andy do not know where Sam went. Sam returns in a puff of smoke wearing only a chef’s apron, carrying fire extiguishers and says he will “explain later.” Andy takes a swig and says it’s the “last drink I’ll ever take.” Bill glamors Tara while Sookie looks into her mind seeing the blacked out orgies, the eating of hunter’s souffle, and the abuse between Tara and Eggs. Tara’s eyes return to normal and she comes out claiming that she is “really crazy.” Tara apologizes to Lafayette and Lettie Mae. Tara exclaims that she needs to get Eggs, but Lafayette restrains her. Sookie and Bill speak outside about the chaos coming completely from Mary-Ann stating that she “wants their souls.” Bill remembers reading about maenads in the past, assuming they were a myth, but that he thought Mary-Ann might be one. He says he knows of one vampire that “might” know how to defeat her. Bill says he must go see her alone. Bill asks Sookie if she can do what she did to Mary-Ann again to which Sookie replies, “I don’t even know what I did,” and promises Bill she will stay away from her home. Back at Bill’s house, Hoyt and Jessica struggle to maintain Maxine from going to Merlotte’s. Her tone is evil and she repeatedly insults Jessica. Jessica’s anger rises and her fangs come out, explaining that she has “little control over her actions and has not eaten in days.” Maxine continues to patronize her and Jessica throws Hoyt back. She throws down Maxine, exclaiming, “Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t,” and Maxine replies, “I don’t gotta give you nothing.” Jessica leans down to bite her and Hoyt screams, “Fuck! No!” Bill is seem arriving at the queen’s lair. Upon entering, he shows a face of pure shock, and a bloody foot is seen dangling from the throne.

Tara’s birthday party is still in full swing as Sam follows Daphne out into the woods, where she reveals to him that she is a shapeshifter too. They start to make out, but are interrupted by Terry and Arlene and Daphne wanders off. In Dallas, Sookie chases Barry and he tells her that if any of the Dallas vampires find out about his abilities, it would mean serious trouble for both of them. After Bill repremands her for ordering a young man off of the Camilla Hotel menu, Jessica calls Hoyt and the two share a conversation about comic books. At the Light of Day Institute, Jason and the others are put through an intensive training course by Sarah and a very demanding drill instructor. When Luke has trouble completing one of the exercises, Jason helps him out and is commended for being a real soldier of God. Meanwhile, Sookie tries to connect with Barry one more time and learns that he is ashamed of his abilities and that cannot control his telepathy the way she can. Even though she offers to teach him, Barry tells her to leave him alone. Maryanne continues to stir up trouble in Bon Temps after trying to move into Sookie’s house with Tara, who rebuffs her. She casts her spell upon the patrons of Merlotte’s, turning them all against Tara and making her feel isolated and alone. Eventually, Tara invites Maryanne to live at Sookie’s house with her. In Dallas, the Louisiana gang come a step closer to solving the mystery of Godric’s disappearence when Sookie offers to infiltrate the Fellowship of the Sun by posing as a convert in order to see if they are the ones holding Godric. Bill disapproves of the plan and, after asking Eric why he is so invested in fiding Godric, Eric reveals that centuries ago Godric saved him from death by turning him into a vampire and becoming Eric’s maker. Steve Newlin shows Jason the seriousness of their mission in the form of a bunker full of serious weapons. After walking in on Steve and Sarah having a fight, Sarah “rewards” him for his hard work by jerking him off in the bath. Lafayette is given his job back as the Merlotte’s cook, Sam and Daphne have sex and Sookie is devestated to learn that Barry has quit his job and Bill tries to comfort her. As they start to make love, a woman appears in the hallway outside their room. It is Bill’s maker, Lorena.

Godric’s minion, Isabel, drops in on Bill and Sookie at the Hotel Camilla with her human boyfriend, Hugo. He and Sookie bond over their mutual relationships with vampires as they prepare to infiltrate the Fellowship of the Sun. Eric, meanwhile, has summoned Lorena to the hotel in order to drive Bill and Sookie apart and, while there, Lorena ruminates on her and Bill’s violent past together when they viciously murdered a couple of socialites in the 1920’s. Sam and Daphne continue to grow closer, both physically and emotionally, while Maryanne sends Tara and Eggs on an out-of-town errand. On the way there, Eggs senses something familiar about the environment even though he has never been there before and he eventually leads Tara to a spot in the woods where there are bloody clothes and rocks and the charred remains of a fire. The two suspect that something bad has happened there. Hoyt tells his mother that his girlfriend is a vampire after she cancels his phone service due to Jessica’s late night calls. Andy interrogates Lafayette about his disappearance and threatens to lock him up on suspicion of the murder of Miss Jeanette based on Lafayette’s apparent motives and uncharacteristically low-key demeanor. Lafayette then has horrible Post Traumatic Stress Disorder memories of being locked up and collapses into a ball. He is comforted by Andy’s cousin Terry. Luke and Jason are summoned to the Fellowship Church to build a crucifix platform for a ceremony called “meet the sun”, in which a vampire will be tied to the cross just before dawn and left to burn in the sun. While talking with Luke, Jason somewhat hesitantly decides to practice abstinence. Sookie and Hugo are greeted at the church by Sarah, who introduces them to Steve; it doesn’t take Sookie long to find out that the Newlins have a vampire locked in the basement. After meeting Gabe, the drill instructor, Sookie reads Steve’s thoughts and finds out that someone has tipped off the Fellowship about their mission; both Sookie and Hugo are captured and dragged into the basement, with a teary-eyed Sarah watching on helplessly. Pam visits Lafayette and orders him to start dealing V-juice again. Sam and Daphne go on a shape-shifting run together, with Daphne shifting into a pig. They are chased by Andy, who thinks he recognizes the pig from one of Maryanne’s parties. Lorena drops in on Bill who tries to resist her, sensing Sookie is in grave danger, but Lorena, also knowing that Sookie is in danger, overpowers him and prevents him from going to Sookie’s aid. Hoyt drives all the way to Dallas to visit Jessica. Tara and Eggs return to Sookie’s house to find it trashed. They follow a trail of clothes to the backyard, where they find some of the townspeople taking part in an orgy while Maryanne vibrates wildly. There is a bull’s head shaped mask on a log. At the church, Sarah turns to Jason for help. She tells him that Steve is not the man she thought he was and that he is planning on starting a war
with the Vampires. She tells Jason that she and him were meant to be together. Jason tries to resist, but she convinces him that it’s God’s will that they be together and they end up having sex on the balcony. Daphne tries to lead Sam towards the orgy, but he is hesitant about the drum music. Two people jump out of the woods and grab Sam, dragging him to the orgy, where he sees the ritual (which now includes Tara and Eggs, also in trance-induced sex) taking place. Daphne helps Maryanne into the bull’s head mask and Carl approaches with a sacrificial knife. Sam lets out a blood-curdling scream for help that ends the episode.
