Tour de France 2009 Stage 11 results | Armstrong in Stage 11?
Jul 15th
We’re halfway there but the Tour de France 2009 drama is yet to unfold. Stage 11 may change that. A flat course of 192 kilometers from Vatan to Saint-Fargeau, this part of the race is where the best of the best and those with an eye for the championship start making their move. This may be the best stage to mount a challenge for the lead as the next few legs of Tour de France 2009 will be be climbing runs again.
Will we see Lance Armstrong making his bid for the lead this time? He and teammate Alberto Contador are merely separated by two seconds
and with a rivalry brewing, this may spur the two to push it further in this stage. Let’s wait for the results and see.
For now, here are a few tidbits about the start and finish venues of Tour de France 2009’s Stage 11. Vatan is a small town with a little over 2 000 inhabitants, situated in the Champagne Berry region, in between Vierzon and Châteauroux, is part of the Indre Department. Saint-Fargeau, on the other hand, is a historical town with its 12th century castle, home to numerous famous historical figures: Jacques Cœur, the Duchess of Montpensier, also known as La Grande Mademoiselle, first cousin of Louis the Fourteenth, Louis Michel Le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau, a famous member of the Conventional National Assembly assassinated in 1793 for having voted the death of Louis the Sixteenth, and the contemporary novelist Jean d’Ormesson.

Tour de France 2009 Stage 6 results: Hushovd wins Stage 6
Jul 10th
Tour de France Stage 6 results and overall standings, that’s what you will find on this page. Stage 6 has just been concluded, the last flat stage before the 2009 Tour enters the Pyrenees. It is a 181.5 kilometer road race taking place entirely in Spain, starting in the city of Gerona and ending in Barcelona.
Ruling Stage 6 is Norway’s Thor Hushovd from Cervélo TestTeam with a time of 4h 21′ 33″. Hushovd is known for sprinting and time trialing so it is quite a surprise to see him ruling this stage. He is a former Norwegian time trial champion. He is the first
Norwegian to wear the yellow jersey in the Tour de France.
Taking second place in the Gerona to Barcelona section of the Tour is Oscar Freire from Team Rabobank while another Spaniard, Jose Joaquin Rojas from Team Caisse d’Epargne, took third place honors. For the results of Tour De France Stage 6 as well as the lastest Tour de France standings overall, please check the charts below.

Tour de France 2009 stage 7 results: who rules the mountains?
Jul 10th
Who will rule the first mountain stage of 2009? The Tour de France Stage 7 (results below) is the first mountain climb of the racers this year and it will be a test on who has the skills to rule it, especially since it is reported to be the one of the highest ever, 2,200 meters in elevation. Wow! It is also rather long for a mountain stage and will favor a climber who can break away and stay away.
It is also the second stage of Tour de France 2009 that will not touch French soil. The start of the race is at Barcelona, the picturesque coastal city
in the south of Spain, and ends in Andorra-Arcalis – part of the Vallnord ski area complex.
The views from start to finish will be awesome, especially as the racers of this year’s Tour start to climb the mountains. But appreciating the views will not be in any of the racers’ agenda, I presume, as they will try to test each other’s strength and stamina to see who will rule the mountains.
Watch out for the Tour de France 2009 Stage 7 results and updates to be posted here once the race finishes. The updated overall standings will be posted here as well. Please check back for it.

Tour de France 2009: route map, stages, schedule Tour de France
Jul 4th
Looking for the 2009 Tour de France route map, or this year’s stages and schedule perhaps? The Tour de France 2009 rolls off from Monaco on July 4 beginning with a 15 kilometer individual time trial that includes a section of the famous Circuit de Monaco. It will be another grueling three weeks on the road for these world-class cyclists as they compete for the most famous of all cycling world races. The total length of the race this year is 3,445 kilometers, including 93 in time-trials. There will be seven mountain stages for 2009 with three uphill finishes, and one medium-mountain stage. There are also some
changes in the Tour de France this year, with a team time trial for the first time since 2005, the shortest distance in individual time trials since 1967, and the first penultimate day mountain stage in the Tour’s history.
Favorites for the 2009 race include 2008 winner Carlos Sastre, 2009 Giro d’Italia winner Denis Menchov, 2007 winner Alberto Contador and two time runner-up Cadel Evans. One notable entry this year is American Lance Armstrong, the seven-time winner from 1999 to 2005, who has come out of retirement for another shot at glory. Armstrong was embroiled in a drug scandal during his final year with the race though nothing was proven. However, race officials this year have announced that they will be very strict in testing for doping as this has gradually eroded the prestige of the race. French media have a sterner warning for Armstrong who they felt should have been caught for doping during his time.
For more details about the Tour, here are the route map for this year as well as the Tour de France 2009 schedule and stages.

2009 Tour de France TV schedule | TV coverage Tour de France
Jul 4th
Looking for the Tour de France 2009 TV schedule? Television coverage for this year’s greatest bicycle road race, the Tour de France, will be done by Versus in the United States. Versus will provide comprehensive daily coverages starting today when the race starts in Monaco with a fifteen kilometer time trial. Aside from the LIVE telecast, there will also be replays throughout the day as well as a comprehensive prime time replay and analysis.
The 2009 Tour de France is the biggest so far, visiting six countries, covering a total length
of 3,445 kilometers (2,141 miles). There will be time trials to test the competitors’ speed and mountain stages to test their strength and stamina. Moreover, the following changes will be in effect this year: a team time trial for the first time since 2005, the shortest distance in individual time trials since 1967, and the first penultimate day mountain stage in the Tour’s history.
Favorites for the Tour de France 2009 include last year’s winner Carlos Sastre from Spain, 2009 Giro d’Italia winner Denis Menchov, two time runner-up Cadel Evans and 2007 winner Alberto Contador. Another big name in this year’s race is Lance Armstrong, seven-time champion but running his first Tour since 2005. However, he is not expected to challenge the younger racers.
