Critics’ Choice Awards 2010 nominations / nominees LIST

In a few hours from now, one of the loudest collective voices in entertainment in the United States and Canada will be heard. It is at this time of the year that they announce their choices for the best in movies for the year that was. Who are they? The critics, of course. 200 film critics that make up the Broadcast Film Critics Association, the largest film critics organization in the US and Canada, will announce their choices via a list of nominees that will be read out later today.

Which movie will be blessed with the most nominations? Which actors and actresses will get the all-important nods? The critics voices are very important with the nominees of the other award giving bodies coming up with in the next month or so. Every honor and distinction will definitely add to one’s chances of getting that much coveted Oscar nomination. Let’s wait and see who the critics chose this year. The Critics Choice Awards is slated on January 15, 2010 with Kristin Chenoweth hosting.

Reviews + NEW MOON BOX OFFICE tickets sales HUGE!

From all indications, it was a huge success for The Twilight Saga: New Moon as the highly anticipated movie opened all across the United States. The final figures have not been revealed but observers project that this will be a huge weekend for the movie, its producers and its major stars who all have some share in the box office receipts.
Reports coming in on the web from various blogs and websites say lines have been long, very long. Some fans have even camped out outside movie theaters to reserve their spot for midnight
premiere. Before even hitting the screen, it was reported Thursday that more than 2,000 theaters sold out.
New Moon opening night box office sales. What are New Moon’s box office ticket sales? The box office sales of opening night of New Moon will be released soon. Observers have projected between $85 to $100 million in sales for the opening weekend. The first Twilight movie was just short of $70 million. The movie has already broken the record for advanced ticket sales, surpassing the previous record held by Star Wars II: Revenge of the Sith.
Despite the huge box office numbers though, the movie has drawn mixed review. More o this later.

“Jake Sully is a former Marine who was wounded and paralyzed from the waist down in combat on Earth. Jake is selected to participate in the Avatar program, which will enable him to walk. Jake travels to Pandora, a lush jungle-covered extraterrestrial moon filled with incredible life forms, some beautiful, many terrifying. Pandora is also home to the Na’vi, a sentient humanoid race, who are considered primitive, yet are more physically capable than humans. Standing three meters tall, with tails and sparkling blue skin, the Na’vi live in harmony with their unspoiled world. As humans encroach deeper into Pandora’s forests in search of valuable minerals, the Na’vi unleash their formidable warrior abilities to defend their threatened existence.
Jake has unwittingly been recruited to become part of this encroachment. Since humans are unable to breathe the air on Pandora, they have created genetically-bred human-Na’vi hybrids known as Avatars. On Pandora, through his Avatar body, Jake can be whole once again. Sent deep into Pandora’s jungles as a scout for the soldiers that will follow, Jake encounters many of Pandora’s beauties and dangers. There he meets a young Na’vi female, Neytiri.
Over time, Jake integrates himself into the Na’vi clan, and begins to fall in love with Neytiri. As a result, Jake finds himself caught between the military-industrial forces of Earth and the Na’vi, forcing him to choose sides in an epic battle that will decide the fate of an entire world.”

where to buy NEW MOON advance tickets NOW on sale?

Two months early, New Moon movie tickets are being sold by a chain of cinemas because of public clamor. Carmike Cinemas, a Georgia-based theatre exhibitor operating in “small and midsized markets”, is offering advanced ticket sales for the film’s November 19 midnight performances.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon is set to premiere on November 20, 2009 and interest in the film is heating up. It is expected that New Moon will out-gross its predecessor at the box office. And judging from the interest the film is generating, I wouldn’t
be surprised if the movie breaks box office records when it is released. Advance ticket sales generally do not happen until six weeks before a movie opens. But this move to sell early tickets was spurred by a similar move for Avatar, James Cameron’s highly anticipated film.
Where to get New Moon advance ticket sales? Advance sales of The Twilight Saga:New Moon tickets are available at Fandango. The tickets, additionally, will be offered at 63 theaters listed on the online ticketer’s website, which include theaters in Fort Wayne, Ind.; Winston-Salem, N.C.; and Des Moines, Iowa. Meanwhile, here is a summary of what to expect in New Moon.
On Isabella “Bella” Swan’s 18th birthday, Edward Cullen, the vampire she loves, and his family throw her a birthday party. While unwrapping a gift, she gets a paper cut, which causes Edward’s adoptive brother, Jasper, to be overwhelmed by her blood’s scent and attempt to kill Bella. To protect her, Edward decides to end their relationship, and the Cullens move away from Forks. This leaves Bella heart-broken and depressed.
In the months that follow, Bella learns that thrill-seeking activities, such as motorcycle riding, allow her to “hear” Edward’s voice in her head. She also seeks comfort in her deepening friendship with Jacob Black, a cheerful companion who eases her pain over losing Edward. Bella discovers that Jacob is a werewolf. He and his fellow werewolves protect Bella from the vampires Laurent and Victoria, the latter of whom seeks revenge for her dead mate, James, whom the Cullens killed in Twilight.
Meanwhile, a series of miscommunications leads Edward to believe that Bella has killed herself. Distraught over her supposed suicide, Edward flees to Italy to provoke the Volturi, vampire royalty who are capable of killing him. Alice and Bella rush to Italy to save Edward, arriving just in time to stop him. Before leaving Italy, the Volturi tell Edward that Bella, a human who knows that vampires exist, must either be killed or transformed into a vampire. When they return to Forks, Edward tells Bella that he has always loved her and only left Forks to protect her. She forgives him, and the Cullens vote in favor of Bella being transformed into a vampire, to Edward’s dismay. However, Edward gives Bella a choice: either she lets Carlisle change her after her graduation, or, if Bella agrees to marry him, he will change her himself.

Thunderpants: online videos & summary, Thunderpants movie

The web is abuzz with it. In fact, it is currently on top of the Google search charts with the following keyword searches: “thunderpants, thunder pants, thunderpants movie, thunderpants review, thunderpants online video, thunderpants video”. What the hell is it, I asked myself. Then, after a few clicks, I finally found out. Thunderpants is a 2002 movie about a boy astronaut. But he’s no ordinary astronaut. He uses his incredible ability to fart to go into space! Yup, you read it right, farting made him an astronaut. If you don’t believe me, read to plot summary of the movie below, and watch some of the videos posted on this page as well.
Born with two stomachs, Patrick Smash (Bruce Cook) is uncontrollably and devastatingly flatulent. No more than thirty seconds after his birth, he first broke wind, horrifying his parents (Bronagh Gallagher and Victor McGuire) and doctor (Robert Hardy). As he grew up, his gassy emissions became so uncontrollable and destructive that his father had to flee their home, as he was often injured by the power of his son’s powerful farts; a force so strong that it can blow people over and curtains open in one mere release. Patrick’s unfortunate affliction left him prone to bullying. One incident at his school left him particularly humiliated. An important visitor was addressing the school during assembly and Patrick fought to control his flatulence, but he could not. He passed gas loudly, polluting the hall and disgracing the school. However, while he is physically weak, Patrick finds strength in his disorder and eventually seeks revenge on his main tormentor Damon (Joshua Herdman) by passing gas in his face, leaving the bully scarred for life. Patrick’s only friend is child prodigy Alan A. Allen (Rupert Grint), who has anosmia and therefore, a resilience to Patrick’s condition. Alan and Patrick team up, using Alan’s intelligence and Patrick’s lifelong dream of being an astronaut, to make Thunderpants, a space suit strong enough to contain Patrick’s emissions. Suddenly, Patrick learns that Alan went to America with the government to assist astronauts who are trapped in outer space, and Patrick finds that his condition may be of use to the spacemen in peril.

A bunch of guinea pigs has beaten Harry Potter! Yup, it’s the surprise of the season at the box office as an unheralded movie about a group of guinea pigs in “Mission: Impossible-style adventure” has toppled the latest edition from the boy wizard at the top of the box office charts in only its second week.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince just opened a week ago to amazing reviews and box office receipts. Many in the industry predicted it would reign over the top of the charts for weeks and set new ticket sales records. But, alas, they had not foreseen
the power of a group of rodents out to save the world from evil.
G-Force is a story about a team of specially-trained guinea pigs on a mission from the United States government to stop a billionaire out to take over the world with household appliances.
