watch AVATAR official movie trailer / preview

“Jake Sully is a former Marine who was wounded and paralyzed from the waist down in combat on Earth. Jake is selected to participate in the Avatar program, which will enable him to walk. Jake travels to Pandora, a lush jungle-covered extraterrestrial moon filled with incredible life forms, some beautiful, many terrifying. Pandora is also home to the Na’vi, a sentient humanoid race, who are considered primitive, yet are more physically capable than humans. Standing three meters tall, with tails and sparkling blue skin, the Na’vi live in harmony with their unspoiled world. As humans encroach deeper into Pandora’s forests in search of valuable minerals, the Na’vi unleash their formidable warrior abilities to defend their threatened existence.

Jake has unwittingly been recruited to become part of this encroachment. Since humans are unable to breathe the air on Pandora, they have created genetically-bred human-Na’vi hybrids known as Avatars. On Pandora, through his Avatar body, Jake can be whole once again. Sent deep into Pandora’s jungles as a scout for the soldiers that will follow, Jake encounters many of Pandora’s beauties and dangers. There he meets a young Na’vi female, Neytiri.

Over time, Jake integrates himself into the Na’vi clan, and begins to fall in love with Neytiri. As a result, Jake finds himself caught between the military-industrial forces of Earth and the Na’vi, forcing him to choose sides in an epic battle that will decide the fate of an entire world.”

The AMAs were created by Dick Clark in 1973 to compete with the Grammys after the move of that year’s show to Nashville, Tennessee led to CBS picking up the Grammy telecasts after its first two in 1971 and 1972 were broadcast on ABC. Stephanie Birkitt (Burkett), Letterman’s lover? (PHOTOS/VIDEO)

Ever since the extortion plot on David Letterman exploded on television through the Late Show’s confession last night, several immediate questions entered our minds. Who was the extortionist? this was answered a few hours ago when details about the identity of the extortionist was reveal online after the arrest of Robert “Joe” Halderman. The next question was, who were these women with whom Letterman had a affair? Well, one of them has been identified. According to TMZ, it’s Stephanie Birkitt.

Stephanie Birkitt (aka Burkett) was a former Letterman assistant. Reportedly, Stephanie Birkitt (Burkett, photos/video below) was a former intern at the writers’ department of the Late Show. she then moved to 48 Hours (where Halderman was a producer) but later on applied to be David Letterman’s assistant. She would appear on the show in skits and would also be tasked to do segments of the show, like the 2002 and 2006 Olympics coverages and the CBS Mailbag.

But here’s an interesting detail. Stephanie Birkitt was allegedly also Robert Halderman’s lover until recently and that’s when Halderman got possession of her diary and collection of photos that allegedly incriminated David Letterman.

video: Joe Jonas, Brenda Song dinner date & the paparazzi

Time for some tween gossip. Joe Jonas and Brenda song. I repeat, Joe Jonas and Brenda Song. Dumbfounded? My reaction exactly. Didn’t he just break up with Camille Bell a couple of hours ago? My, he works fast, or maybe it was just an innocent date. But judging by the way they tried to evade the paparazzi, it doesn’t look like an innocent date at all. Watch the video below to see what I mean.

This was how it went. The paparazzi sees them having a dinner date at a restaurant (probably tipped off by one of the waiters) and waits for them
outside. Joe Jonas comes out first and gets into his car. Brenda Song, on the other hand, came out a little later, probably trying to make it look like they were not together (duh?). She comes out and walks the other way. The paparazzi run after her. She crosses the street, they follow her. After seeing that she could not avoid them, she crosses the street again and runs into Joe’s car. My, what a coincidence Joe Jonas was there! Ha ha. Who was she trying to fool. They drive off together.

And that, my friends, is how an innocent date turned into a headline.

Kari Callin on America’s Got Talent, the next Susan Boyle (video)

Kari Callin in America’s Got Talent with “Somewhere”

She has the voice but not the looks and many times in the past, it was the latter that mattered during auditions. But in America’s Got Talent, Kari Callin got the respect and recognition she has been looking for all her life having started singing at age 3.

Kari Callin has been touted to be the next Susan Boyle. I agree. But no, not really. Kari Callin is the next Paul Potts. Susan was good during her audition at Britain’s Got Talent and she wowed us all. However, her story and her performance didn’t make me cry. Kari Callin’s did, just like Paul Potts’ during BGT’s first season. And don’t want Kari to end up like Susan, a runner up. She should win just like Paul Potts did.

Debbie Rowe sells Jackson’s kids again, custody battle averted

The much-anticipated custody battle for Michael Jackson’s children will no longer happen. This after Debbie Rowe, two of the kids’ mother, has allegedly sold her parental rights to the Jacksons for a whopping $4 million. Rowe has sold her kids again.

Days after Michael Jackson died last June 25, 2009, speculations were rife that the two eldest kids’ biological mother would fight for their custody. A Los Angeles court granted temporary custody to the three Jackson children and the King of Pop himself granted it through his will to his mother Katherine. Media
reports, however, claim that Debbie Rowe would fight for the kids. This was further bolstered by claims of her attorney that Rowe would indeed want to have custody of the children.

But now, the New York Post claims that a settlement has been reached between the two parties. No custody battle will ensue and Rowe has surrendered all her parental rights to the children to the tune of $4 million:

After the birth of son Prince Michael, now 12, and daughter Paris, 11, she agreed to allow Jackson to raise them in exchange for a lump sum of $8 million, plus $900,000 annually for five years, the source said.

When Jacko was accused of child molestation in 2001, Rowe resurfaced to reclaim her rights. But she wound up giving her ex-husband full custody of the kids anyway — in exchange for another $4 million plus a $900,000 home.

This time around, she is forfeiting her restored parental rights to Jackson’s mom, Katherine, in exchange for yet another roughly $4 million, the family source said.

“This would be it. This takes away any rights she has to challenge custody at any given time,” the source said.

Trey Lorenz who? | Mariah Carey, Trey Lorenz with I’ll be There

Who is Trey Lorenz? That was the first thing on my mind when I saw Mariah performing with him at the Michael Jackson memorial at the Staples Center yesterday. My apologies to him and his fans but I was honestly not quite familiar with him. It was therefore a surprise to see Lorenz performing at such an important event.

A quick check at Wikipedia revealed some answers. According to the site, Trey began his career in 1990 and is also a songwriter. He has several records to his name but most of his exposure was as back up to stars such as Mariah Carey. Here’s more
about Trey Lorenz from Wikipedia:

Lorenz began his career supporting singer Mariah Carey on her first promotional tour in 1990, and the following year he provided background vocals on her album Emotions. Lorenz again served as Carey’s backing singer on her 1992 appearance on the television show MTV Unplugged, where he and Carey sang a cover of the Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There” – a duet the two reprised at Michael Jackson’s memorial at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on July 7, 2009. Their Unplugged performance was released as a single that went to number one in the United States. Lorenz recorded also a duet She Deserves It with Polish vocalist Basia on her gold U.S. album The Sweetest Illusion.

Lorenz was subsequently offered a record deal and recorded a critically successful self-titled debut album. The single “Someone to Hold” (co-written and co-produced by Carey, who also sang backup vocals) peaked at number nineteen on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The album itself, however, performed poorly and only peaked at #111 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and Lorenz was dropped by his label.

Lorenz returned to a career in background vocals, working for artists such as TLC, the late Selena, and Usher. He began to support Mariah Carey on her albums and concert tours again in 1997, including a featured spot in the 2003 Charmbracelet World Tour, and he recorded the songs “Make You Happy” for the Men in Black soundtrack, which he co-wrote with Carey and Cory Rooney, and “I’m Still Not Over You” for the Money Train soundtrack. He was signed to Carey’s short-lived imprint label, MonarC, and to Jermaine Dupri’s Atlanta-based So So Def Records label, but never put out any music under the label.

Lorenz’s second album, Mr. Mista, was released on September 16, 2006. Among the songs on the new album is “See You Sometime”, a song Lorenz sang during the Charmbracelet World Tour. Lorenz launched his second album during the time he was prominently featured in Carey’s 2006 The Adventures of Mimi Tour, doing background vocals and singing three songs, “Never Too Much”, “A House Is Not a Home” and “Crazy”, during one of her many costume changes.
