Car Seat Recall: Dorel Juvenile Group Inc. car seats recalled

Another product recall has been announced Friday as a baby product manufacturer recalled about 447,000 of its infant car seat carriers, including some branded with Eddie Bauer and Disney logos. This was due to reports that the car seat carrying handle can come loose and cause injuries to the baby.

The government announced the recall amid reports that babies have sustained injuries after falling off the car seat when the handles become unhinged. The government said

consumers should immediately stop using the seat’s carrying handle. The bolts that attach the handle to the seat can loosen, causing the handle to separate and creating a fall hazard for babies.

The Dorel Juvenile Group car seats recalled include Safety 1st, Eddie Bauer, Cosco and Disney car seats all made in China from January 2008 to April 2009. They were sold at department stores in the United States from January 2008 to December 2009.

The government announced that consumers should not use the handle until a repair kit has been installed. The repair kit includes new screws that consumers can attach to the seat carriers. Holy Cow: Calf born with cross on its forehead VIDEO

Is it a sign from above? A divine message? Some people think so including the owner of a calf born in Connecticut last week with a special marking on its forehead – a white cross! Here’s the report from the Associated Press:

A holy cow perhaps? Or maybe a divine bovine? A calf born at a dairy farm in Sterling last week has a white marking on its forehead in the approximate shape of a cross. The calf’s owner, Brad Davis, told WFSB-TV that he thinks the marking may be a message from above, though he’s still trying to figure out
what that message might be.

The mostly brown calf is half Jersey, half Holstein. Neighborhood children named it Moses.

The Tiger Woods scandal has shown no sign of slowing down with revelations and gossip filling the web searches day by day. Ever since the news of the affair started, the issue has been tops in the search charts. For this reason, some enterprising individuals have taken notice and are gearing their entrepreneurship skills on this continuing saga. One of these is a new video game!

Tiger Parking Slam. That’s the name of a new video game inspired bi tiger Woods and the scandal he is currently mired in. And it’s golf-related as well. However, it’s not the golf superstar swinging the club this time but his wife! The video game lets users play Tiger as he maneuvers his Escalade into a neighbor’s driveway without crashing. However, there are obstacles – paparazzi, police, fire hydrants, trees, and his wife swinging a golf club at the car! If you succeed in parking within the allotted time, despite the threats, you win the Parking Cup.

What if you are a sports great, or at least, on your way to becoming one and you go back to your alma mater to be inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame, but you get jeered instead! Unbelievable? That’s what happened to Tiger Woods as an honorary captain at Saturday’s Big Game between Stanford and Cal when he gave a short speech at halftime to mark his induction into the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame. The reception surprised Woods not knowing that the boos came from a group of cal fans.

Daughtry’s Life After You music video is out. Watch the official music video of Life After You by Daughtry which follows the theme of life on the road for the band. It’s something different from the other videos they have come out with according to Chris Daughtry. “It was different than what we’re use to because we usually just get in there and perform.” He adds, “But I have a role in this particular video. I had to shoot some hopefully convincing scenes. It is capturing our life on the road,” Chris added. “We deal with having to connect at home and manage that while we’re doing our job on the road – at the same time. The video shows

Linda Brown hoax causes Burlington coat store riot, looting

Here’s one for the books, one of the craziest pranks I have ever heard. A woman in a Hummer limousine walks into a Burlington coat store, walks up to the register and announces she had won the lottery. Further, she announces that she will be paying for everyone’s purchases up to $500. Well, that was enough to cause a commotion in Columbus, Ohio with people grabbing clothes and other items, lining up at the register and calling all their friends and relatives to do the same. But, as it turned out, it was
a hoax, a crazy prank by a woman named Linda Brown.

Linda Brown’s lottery hoax then caused a riot at Burlington. Angry Burlington customers (angry at Linda Brown and her hoax) realizing that they were not going to get what they wanted and were promised, threw down clothes and thrashed the store. Some even just ran away with them. According to reports, an employee described the aftermath as like hurricane Katrina just went through the store. (Photo Source)

Linda Brown was arrested and kept in jail pending a mental evaluation. No charges have been filed against her pending the result of the evaluation. Meanwhile, police will be studying security tapes to identify the looters.

author Richard Castle’s HEAT WAVE book: an internet hit!

Browsing through the web led me to Google Trends for the latest trending topics on the web, and one of the hottest of the day is a book. Richard Castle’s Heat Wave book. Searches for heat wave book, richard castle, heat wave, richard castle author, heatwave book, richard castle heat wave have seemingly flooded the internet lately. Must be a new release, I told myself. Then something about the name hit me. Haven’t I heard that name on television? I have, and it’s a fictional author played by Nathan Fillion on the series Castle. If the author is fictional, how could there be a book by him? And why would there be a search for a
book by a fictional author?

This is a puzzle to me. I don’t even know why there is such a clamor for the “book” Heat Wave by Richard Castle, for something that does not exist. Anyway, here is something about Richard Castle and Heat Wave according to Wikipedia (the last sentence may be the reason why people are searching for the book).

Richard “Rick” Castle is a fictional character portrayed by Nathan Fillion in the ABC crime series Castle. Richard Castle is a New York Times bestselling author.

Castle is an author of mystery fiction, with 26 bestsellers under his belt. His most popular works comprise a series starring “Derek Storm,” including the novels Gathering Storm, Unholy Storm, Storm’s Last Stand, Storm Season, Storm Rising, Storm Warning, and Storm’s Break; in the pilot episode, Castle attends a party for the release of the final book in the Storm series, Storm Fall, in which he kills off his protagonist after becoming bored with the character. Richard Castle’s book “Heat Wave” was released as a hardback on 9/29/2009 and debuts as #26 on New York Times bestseller list.

Nobel Peace Prize 2009 winner: LIVE STREAM announcement

It’s that time of the year again, when the most prestigious and coveted awards in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace are given by the Norwegian Committee according to the parameters set by the 1895 will and estate of Swedish chemist and inventor Alfred Nobel. The Nobel Prizes in the specific disciplines (Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, and Literature) and the Prize in Economics, which is commonly identified with them, are widely regarded as the most prestigious award one can receive in those fields. The Nobel Peace Prize conveys social prestige and is often
politically controversial.

For 2009, the prizes in Physiology or Medicine have been announced and it went to Elizabeth H. Blackburn of the University of California, San Francisco, Carol W. Greider of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD and Jack W. Szostak from the Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital. Likewise, the prize for Physics has also been announced: Charles K. Kao of Standard Telecommunication Laboratories, and to Willard S. Boyle and George E. Smith of Bell Laboratories. The awardee for this year’s Chemistry prize will be announced anytime now while that for Literature will be announced tomorrow. But the most anticiapted Nobel prize each year is that for Peace.

According to Nobel’s will, the Peace Prize should be awarded “to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.” The selection of Nobel Peace Prize winners sometimes causes controversy, as it has become greatly politicized and not related to issues of peace and the list of winners includes people who formerly used violence and terrorism, but then later made exceptional concessions to non-violence in the attempt to achieve peace. For 2009, who will be the winner? No one has a clue except the men and women tasked to deliberate on who will get it.

Holly Hester: David Letterman former intern / lover comes out

When The late Show host David Letterman confessed about his affairs with “employees”, we asked who they were. Then Stephanie Birkitt’s name came out as one of the women he allegedly had a relationship with. But since Letterman referred to “women”, we are curious who else among his staff he had an affair with. Well, another woman has come out and admitted to have had a relationship with the talk show host whilst under his employ, she was an intern.

This report from TMZ. Holly Hester was an intern for David Letterman in the early 1990s,
and Holly Hester (photos to follow) admitted to an affair with the Letterman: (Somehow, something about this affair with an intern brings back memories of the most infamous intern of them all, Monica Lewinsky. Hey Dave, didn’t you blast Bill Clinton endlessly for his indiscretions way back then?)

Holly Hester tells TMZ the internship was her first job in TV. At the time she was a student at NYU. Hester says during a hiatus, Dave called her up and asked her to the movies. It began a series of secret dates, with no one on the staff having any idea. She says, “I was madly in love with him at the time. I would have married him. He was hilarious.”

No word yet from Letterman’s camp about this recent revelation.
