Adam Gadahn Arrested: Al Qaeda’s American Spokesman Arrested In Pakistan
KARACHI, Pakistan — The American-born spokesman for al-Qaida has been arrested by Pakistani intelligence officers in the southern city of Karachi, two officers and a government official said Sunday as video emerged of him urging U.S. Muslims to attack their own country. The arrest of Adam Gadahn represents a major victory in the U.S.-led battle against al-Qaida and will be taken as a sign that Pakistan, criticized in the past for being an untrustworthy ally, is cooperating more fully with Washington. It follows the recent detentions of several Afghan Taliban commanders in Karachi, including the movement’s No. 2 commander. U.S. officials did not immediately confirm Gadahn’s capture. Gadahn has appeared in more than half a dozen al-Qaida videos, taunting and threatening the West and calling for its destruction. A U.S.

BBC presenter Ray Gosling was arrested Wednesday for the murder of his unidentified lover. Gosling confessed to the murder on BBC’s Inside Out program, which taped in December but aired on Monday. “Nottinghamshire Police has this morning arrested a 70-year-old Nottingham man on suspicion of murder following comments on the BBC’s Inside Out programme on Monday evening,” a police spokeswoman said. Gosling’s attorney, Digby Johnson, told reporters that his client is in good spirits. “There’s very little to say at this early stage,” he said. “Ray has been at the police station now for approaching five hours and the investigation is at a very, very early stage…There is no saying how long Ray will be here but he is in good spirits and I would ask you to respect these are very difficult times for Ray because, by its very nature, the things we are talking about are as distressing as could be….Everyone is being careful and respecting Ray’s wishes and I’m sure there will be developments as the day progresses but at the moment there is not a lot I can give you.” Gosling, 70, confessed on Monday’s program that he smothered his AIDS-stricken lover after they were told there was nothing more the doctors could do. It cannot tell us why we are here or how we should live. Science masquerading as religion is as unseemly as religion masquerading as science.”In an earlier book, A Brief History of Time, Hawking was apparently more open to the idea of God, suggesting that a scientific understanding of the universe was not incompatible with a creator.
