Brooklyn Decker, who appeared in a Lucire swimwear shoot by Jon Moe some years ago, has scored herself an even higher-pro–le accolade: the cover of the 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The Ohio-born model appears on the cover in a shoot in the Maldives, photographed by Walter Iooss Jr.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover was revealed Monday night on David Letterman as a billboard in Times Square, and as Just Jared reported, this year’s cover model is Brooklyn Decker. I Wish I could respond to every single one of you but thank you so much for your AMAZINGLY sweet tweets!” and “The issue is amazing, glowing, fun, the girls are happy.. it’s not over-the-top, the girls and editors should be so proud! THANK YOU ALL!!!” But, as late as Monday, Decker claimed to not know who the cover would be, tweeting “And a lot of people have been asking if we know who it is.. we really, I mean REALLY don’t know!!” Decker appeared in the 2009 Swimsuit Issue wearing nothing but body paint.
