Less than twenty-four hours to go before the start of the 2009 World Series in New York in what is touted to be the best World Series match up in recent years. the Phillies vs the Yankees, two of the most dominant teams in Major League Baseball have come to battle it out for the biggest prize in the sport.

Who will it be? Who will prevail? The best-of-seven starts in New York, with the Yankees given home advantage by virtue of the American League’s win in the All Star Game.
Games 1 and 2 in New York, Games 3, 4 and 5 in Philadelphia, and the rest back in Yankee country.

Though the Angels managed to extend the Yankees in the American League Championship Series (ALCS), New York’s place in the World Series was almost a foregone conclusion. Their performance throughout the season was amazing and, with a big late season lead, CC Sabathia was given a rest for his post season duties. That paid dividends for the Yankees. In the ALCS, Sabathia was dominating, posting a 2-0 record and a 1.13 ERA, enough to win him a much-deserved MVP award. Sabathia will also be key in the series.

The Phillies, meanwhile, are more well-rested than the Yankees having disposed of their opponents a good week before the Yankees beat the Angels. As such, they seem more prepared and confident for Game 1 of the World Series. But is this enough?
