US Open 2009 tennis DRAW: Men’s and Women’s singles draw
Who will win the last Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year? The US Open 2009 will reel off on Monday, August 24, 2009, at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center and tennis fans the world over are eager to see the action.
One the women’s side, Dinara Safina is seeded number one when the 2009 US Open seeds/seedings were announced recently. Though still seeking her first Grand Slam tournament win, Safina still reigns supreme by virtue of points ranking in the WTA. Seeeded
second may this year’s top favorite to win the women’s crown, Serena Williams while ranked third is sister Venus. Elena Dementieva, meanwhile, is seeded fourth. My bet this year (and every year) is Venus Williams. Though I’m disappointed by her loss to Serena at Wimbledon, I think she will bounce back with a win here. However, I must admit that Serena looks formidable. She has won the last three of the four Grand Slams and may be on course for another one. The women’s draw hasn’t been announced yet. This may play a big factor in a player’s chances to win. There are many “dangerous” contenders in the lower seeds that may pose a challenge to this top four early in the tournament.
The US Open draw for the men’s side is likewise still unknown as of this writing. As in the women’s side of the game, this is quite important. Will Roger Federer, this year’s US Open 2009 top seed, complete his comeback and win the 2009 US Open after winning the French Open and Wimbledon? I hope so. But breathing down his neck are a formidable batch of contenders: Rafael Nadal on a comeback trail himself after several months of injury recovery, Andy Roddick looking to avenge is heartbreaking loss at Wimbledon, Andy Murray also trying to avenge his loss at last year’s final, and Novak Djokovic looking for his second Grand Slam win. And then there are the other strong contenders waiting for the men’s draw and their chances of advancing to the final rounds: Del Potro (dangerous player for Federer), Tsonga, Soderling, among others. Hope Roger gets a good draw this year.
As written above, the draw haven’t been announced as of this writing. It’s due anytime now. The 2009 US Open draw is almost here. Rest assured that the US Open tennis draw (men’s and women’s) will be posted here soon. Please check back for it.
