Gaffney, South Carolina serial killer, Patrick Tracy Burris, dead
Patrick Tracy Burris, the serial killer who terrorized the Gaffney, South Carolina area has been killed. Police shot shot him dead in Gastonia, North Carolina after a burglary complaint yielded the suspect. Burris, police revealed, was a career criminal paroled just two months ago. Ballistics tests on his gun have confirmed that it is the same weapon used in the series of murders in South Carolina last week.
A couple from Gastonia, some 30 miles from Gaffney, reported seeing a suspicious vehicle in their area. Three men got out of the vehicle and one
of them matched the description of the serial killer. A shootout ensued when the police arrived, and it was revealed that Patrick Tracy Burris was shot dead. His two companions were apprehended and are under investigation.
The Gaffney murders made headlines last week causing panic in the area. Residents were advised to stay indoors with their doors locked especially at night, and to report suspicious activities in their area. The serial killer victimized a total of five people within a span of six days: Peach farmer Kline Cash was killed June 27; 83-year-old Hazel Linder and her daughter, 50-year-old Gena Linder Parker, were found bound and shot four days later; Stephen Tyler and his 15-year-old daughter Abby were shot a day later.
While police are certain that Patrick Tracy Burris is the serial killer based on the ballistics report, no motive for the killings has yet been established.
