Susan Cher: Michelle Obama new chief of staff is Susan Cher
The White House has announced the new Chief of Staff of First Lady Michelle Obama. She is Susan Cher, a lawyer from Washington, DC who has been with the Obamas since the campaign. Cher replaces replaces Jackie Norris who moves on to the position of Senior Advisor to the Corporation for National and Community Service in the Obama administration.
According to the announcement, Susan Cher has been a long-time friend of Michelle Obama. She has released a statement saying that Susan has been her “colleague” since the “days of the Iowa
campaign.” The First Lady also said that Susan’s contribution to issues of national importance has been tremendous. In her words, Susan has been a “trusted advisor, longtime mentor and friend dating back to my work at the city of Chicago and later the University of Chicago.”
This is not the first White House assignment for Cher though. She has been there in the East and West wings of the White House in the capacity of a legal counsel. Susan has released a statement confirming her new position and said that she appreciates “the opportunity to be of greater service to her and this Administration.”
