Taylor Hicks made a comeback to American Idol this week, on the stage of his triumphs several season ago when his Soul Patrol became an overnight success and conquered the hearts of judges, viewers and fellow competitors alike. He was the toast of American Idol that season and many, this author included, became his instant fans.

But since conquering the American Idol title that year, Taylor Hicks gradually vanished from the limelight. Sure, he landed record deals and appearances after winning, but response from the public was lukewarm. His recording contract was reportedly not renewed due to dismal sales.

For this year’s batch on American Idol Final Four contestants, Hicks has one very important advice – it’s all about song choice at this point for this will carry one through to the finals.
